My wife,Kate Leavy,and I are submitting an A-Fame application for two locations on Front Street:38
Front St (the Beehive) and 40 Front St (Roost). Both signs will be of similar construction and dimension
using repurposed wooden window sashes (18"x 32",glass has been removed) with a chalkboard field.
We would like to locate ourA-Fames on the sidewalk directly in front of our businesses,within 0-6"
from the facade of the building,leaving no less than 6' 6" of pedestrian clearance.
Similar to a restaurant specials board,our chalkboard A-Frame signs will be used as an informal way to
communicate our brand and product to potential customers,announcing special events&sales,
showcasing merchandise,and posting phrases or images that relate to our business. In an increasingly
technology driven marketplace,we think of ourA-Frame posts as microblogs or"tweets" that engage the
public and convey our identity,philosophy and,often,humor.
We hope the Board agrees that our proposal complements the City's revitalization efforts,and supports
Salem's revitalization goals by helping to shape the look,feel and experience of Salem as a place that
attracts residents,business,shoppers and tourists.
