24 FRONT STREET - SIGN PERMIT (3) 24 Front Street (Sweet Anthem) Signage and portable sign t Redevtlopniem _- Lltho�rity Design Review Board Proposal September 22, 2010 24 Front Street (Sweet Anthem): Discussion and vote on proposed building signage and portable sign DRB Recommendation At their meeting on September 22, 2010, the DRB voted to recommend approval of the proposed building signage and portable sign at 24 Front Street for Sweet Anthem with the following conditions: - The arc of the "Jewelry, Etc." shall be shifted slightly to the right so it appears more balanced; and - A revised design of the portable sign shall be reviewed and approved by Glenn Kennedy prior to the SRA meeting. Staff Comment At the DRB meeting, the applicant submitted a revised proposal for the portable sign that conforms to the ordinance. However, additional design work was required. The applicant has revised the proposal to conform to the DRB conditions, and Glenn Kennedy recommends approval by the SRA. Original Proposal The proposal (shown on plans dated September 14, 2010) consists of a carved blade sign painted cream with brown lettering and blue accents. The sign is 24" x 36" or 6 square feet. The proposal includes a new sign bracket of the same design as the adjacent Fiddlehead bracket. The proposal also includes a portable sign. The portable sign is shown on plans at 41" x 36" and has been modified to be 36" x 31" or 7.75 square feet. Portable signs are limited to 6 square feet and must not exceed two feet in width. The proposal exceeds the area limit by 1.75 square foot and must be reduced in order to be permitted. The width must also be reduced to 2'.
