28 Norman Street (Georgia's Pizza): Discussion and vote on proposed signage
SRA Decision
At their meeting on September 9, 2009, the SRA voted to approve the August 20,
2009 DRB recommendation for the proposed signage at 28 Norman Street
pending the determination of the legality of the freestanding sign.
Subsequent to the meeting, it was determined that freestanding signs are not
permitted in the Urban Renewal Areas and no evidence of an approval for the
existing ole sign was found. The freestanding sign component is not approved.
DRB Recommendation
At their meeting on August 20, 2009, the DRB voted to recommend approval of
the proposed signage at 28 Norman Street with the following conditions:
- The pole and bracket will be black;
- The sign contents will be shrunk to allow for a larger perimeter;
- "Georgia's" will be brought down; and
- The name on the wall sign will be smaller.
Staff Comment
The proposal has been revised to incorporate the DRB's conditions.
Proposal
The proposal includes replacing the panel on an existing sign box and replacing
a pole-mounted sign. The panel is 29.27" by 97.9" and the pole-mounted sign is
24" by 24".
