You asked for a quick decision, saying the sign had to removed by October 25, 2006. 1 asked for more time. You said no. I said I would call you the next day, after I thought about it, but, I would most probably remove the sign over the front of the building, since it can only be seen by automobiles and people on the other side of the street, and the signs on the ends of the building are the only identification for people walking on Essex Street. Two hours later, a letter was hand-delivered to the attraction, and an employee asked to sign for accepting it. The letter is not what you had stated two hours earlier. You had said one of the three signs had to be removed. The letter says one of the two signs at either end of the building has to be removed. It appears that you changed your mind in two hours. Removing any of the three signs will create a hardship for my business. The signboard on the front was designed by an architect and approved by the City. If removed, customers exiting the Parking Garage and Tourist Bureau will not know where we are located and USPS, UPS, and Fedex deliveries will be impossible. The signs at the ends of the building are the only way customers walking on Essex Street can find us. I want to appeal this decision to make me remove a sign. As the month of October approaches,I wanted to remind you of the regulations regarding signage, noise and decorations outside of your store. • Signage—All signage that can be viewed from the public way is required to be reviewed by the Planning and Community Development Department and permitted through the Building Department. Signage that advertises short-term sales and events are allowed to be displayed for 15 days. However, these signs are regulated to display inside the storefront window and must not exceed more than 15% of the area of the window on which they are displayed. Signs that do not meet these requirements are subject to removal and disposal.
