Memorandum To: Joe From: Don Giard Date: 12/06/01 Re: Bella Verona Sign Application (107 Essex Street) Bella Verona is a small Italian restaurant located at 107 Essex Street, adjacent to the Hawthorne Hotel (just outside the SRA district). I reviewed the sign application and determined that it meets both the Sign Ordinance and the SRA requirements. The sign placement above the doorway does not obscure any architectural features and may help reinforce the entry. In addition, the combined square footage of the existing awning and the new sign does not exceed the maximum allowed. The applicant has also been working with the Main Street Program for storefront design and funding. I have enclosed a copy of the sketch that I did for the building for your review. Rosemary has seen the sign application and has no issues with the design or placement. Let me know if you need any additional information.
