DRB Recommendation At their meeting on April 15, 2009, the DRB voted to recommend approval of the proposed signage, lighting, windows, and painting at 2 Lynde Street with the following conditions: - The wall sign will be a maximum of 18 inches high and will be longer with notched corners, and the letters will shrink proportionally; - The "2" will be black and the surrounding circle will not have a white outline; - The power line to the bracket lighting will be concealed; - The bracket fasteners will be painted to match the bracket; - The color of the band will match the color in the letters on the sign. - A shop drawing of the window will be reviewed and approved prior to the SRA meeting. Staff Comment The applicant has modified the proposal to conform to the DRB recommendation. Proposal The revised proposal includes a blade sign, wall mounted sign, lighting, painting, and a new window. The signs will be fabricated of sign board with raised letters. The blade sign is 26" x 34" (6.14 sf) and the wall sign is 108" x 18" (13.5). The applicant describes the colors as black with gold lettering and a gold border. The blade sign will be lit by a bullet sign lights mounted to the sign bracket. The applicant has indicated the windows are not in good condition and proposes to replace them with a bronze framed aluminum window split into four areas of 57" x 38". The window glass would be clear and there would be no mullions. Salem Redevelopment Authority The applicant also proposes to repaint the horizontal pink band to a brown color that would match the bronze aluminum window. The square footage of the signs complies with City and SRA guidelines.
