Salem Zoning Ordinance, Section 5-2 defines an R-2 zone as residential one and two family zone. Business uses are not allowed. Salem General Ordinances, Section 24-21.1 allows the owner of a residential property to park one commercial vehicle that is less than 10,000 GVW on the property. City of Salem Traffic ordinance prohibits the parking of commercial vehicles in a residential zone. Therefore, you are directed to cease the commercial activities at your property within 30 days upon receipt of this letter. Failure to comply will result in a complaint being filed in Salem District Court and daily fines. If you wish to appeal the Zoning interpretation, you appeal is to the Salem Zoning Board.
