Note: Jackson Hewitt has taken the space next to Enterprise and has installed signs without permits. Tom McGrath is working to bring them into compliance. They will not be able to have a panel on the free-standing sign—the last spot goes to Enterprise. Jackson Hewitt tacked on an additional panel on the free-standing that will need to go. The building is allowed 59 square feet of signage. The current proposal has a 31.25 sf sign on the front and a 20 sf sign on the back which would leave only 7.75 sf of signage for the second tenant. This will not work. Please note, businesses are allowed one sign unless the building is on the corner of two rights of way. On certain sites, however, we try to accommodate a second sign if the facts make sense. The total signage area (based on frontage) is held constant, but a portion can be allocated to a secondary sign on another side. The sign illumination will need to be switched from internal to external. The adjacent businesses on the site—Family Dollar and Little Ceasar's—both have externally illuminated signs. It's pretty much as we discussed when we last spoke with one 101.5 sf building mounted sign and a 30 sf pylon sign,both for the Family Dollar store. There are additional sign locations shown but they are for future tenants for which we have no information. At this point we would like to get some approval on the signage sizes for those other tenants and re-submit the specific signs when the tenant information is available. The attached package includes: • Application for Permit to Erect a Sign • Salem Sign Ordinance Worksheet • Partial site plan showing existing pylon location • Existing and proposed pylon sign drawing • Proposed building mounted Family Dollar sign(entire fagade and close-up) • Family Dollar signage standards drawing • Proposed lighting fixtures • Our check for$25 as the application fee The process with family Dollar is that once the sign configuration and size is approved we order the sign from one of their 2 suppliers and have them shipped to the site to be installed by a local sign company. We would include in the sign company work the modifications to the existing pylon and removal of the Ford pylon. On the Family Dollar signage standards drawings there is a"Coming Soon"banner which they are requesting to be placed on the site. Is that something for we need a different permit or is it okay to install it as a temporary sign? Is it possible for us to mount the banner on the existing Ford sign until the permanent signage is in place?
