A hearing on this petition was held on September 21 , 1983Cpi¢h•_the:€oll(3 R
Board [Members present: James Hacker, Chairman; Messrs. , ChaeS#as,'•Hopper,
Luzinski, Piemonte and Associate Members Bencal and LaBrecque. Notice of said
hearing was sent to abutters and others and notices of the hearing were
properly published in the Salem Evening News in accordance with Massachusetts
General Laws Chapter 40A.
Petition has requested a Special Permit to allow him to extend a nonconforming
_ 5 structure by extending a roof to cover steps and to construct a patio and a
carport on the side of the dwelling inthisR-1 district.

The Board of Appeal, after considering the evidence at the hearing, makes the
g following findings of fact:
1 . There was no opposition to the plan voiced by neighbors;

2. The plan does not create a substantial encroachment towards the -

y W = K On the basis of the above findings of fact, and on the evidence presented at, the

2. The relief requested does not create a substantial detriment to .

J 3. The granting of a Special Permit will promote the health, safety,

convenience and welfare of the City's inhabitants.

Therefore the Zoning Board of Appeal voted unanimously to grant the petitioner
a Special Permit to extend a non-conforming structure as shown on a plan
submitted to the Board.
