The roof on our building is nearly 20 years old,and is showing signs of wear. We have lost shingles in recent wind storms, and have suffered water damage as well.To prevent further damage to the building,we have hired Shea Roofing Company to replace the current roof. If our application is approved,we anticipate beginning work in September 2017. We do not intend to modify the roofline or make any structural changes to the roof; our goal is simply to replace the shingles and repair damage to the roofs support structure. We will be using the same GAF architectural shingles that were used when the roof was last redone (ca. 1999). 1 am enclosing a more detailed statement from the contractor about the nature and extent of the repairs. I am also enclosing photographs of the roof taken from Lafayette and Laurel Streets. Given the height of the building and the relatively small roof area,it was difficult to fully capture the extent of the damage on film. My contact information is below if the Commission requires any additional information from the Bates House Association to approve our request.Thank you.
