Hi Brad,
I will amend the agenda to reflect that the architectural shingle application is withdrawn. Are you still
proposing to change the dormers to clapboards? If so, that still needs to be reviewed for Appropriateness.
For the Certificate of Non-Applicability, could you please fill out the attached form and return it to me.Just
note on the application that you are reroofing with 3-tab shingles and note the color. If you are not changing
the dormers you should also restate the in-kind repairs (fascia, soffits, gutters)on the Non-Applicability
application. I can then have those all approved at one time.
Best Regards,
Natalie

Hi Natalie, could I remove 248 Lafayette Street from tonight's agenda and instead request a
certificate of non-applicability. After talking again with my roofer the building will not be able to
afford the slate style shingles so we decided to replace with the current 3 tab style shingles that
are in there now. Given that this is like for like my understanding is that it won't require a
meeting. Could you confirm if this is ok? thank you, Brad

NOTICE OF DENIAL OF APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF
APPROPRIATENESS
RE: 248 Lafayette Street
On Wednesday, July 10 , 1991 , the Salem Historical Commission
unanimously denied an application for a Certificate of
Appropriateness from the John Clifton House Realty Trust/George
Heller to alter the first floor rear egress . The denial was due
to the work requiring approval under a Certificate of
Non-applicability since it would not be visible from a public
way . I attest that this is an accurate record of the vote taken,
not amended or modified in any way to this date .
