Dear Mr. Kasparian:
We understand that Public Storage, Inc. is proceeding with construction at the#2 and #12 Goodhue Street
property,and has asked the Salem Historic Commission for waiver of the demolition delay ordinance
with respect to the demolition of a remnant of a former industrial building.
We would appreciate it if the Commission would consider the following in considering the applicant's
request.
(1 ) That the applicant take record photographs(exteriors and interiors if appropriate)to document the
structures to be demolished;and
(2) Inform the Commission of any archeological remains discovered in the course of construction,and
agree to appropriate documentation and/or disposition as recommended by the Commission. In
particular,there is the possibility that the remains of the 1675 Palisade defense wall for the Salem colony
may be located at the site.
We appreciate Public Storage's ongoing cooperation with Historic Salem and other citizen's groups with
regard to the design and siting of their building

I obtained permission to photograph the building as it stood, from the owner. Enclosed are 18 jpeg
images on a CD, submitted for your use. I know you required the owner to record the building with
photographs, and these are to be considered supplements to that effort.
