Contact your local dealer for details. Standby Power Package-An optional standby power package is available on all our screw drive vertical platform lifts. This package 1 allows the unit to be raised or lowered under emergency battery I power. (The hydraulic unit comes standard with battery powe..) Extruded Aluminum Enclosure Package For those seeking aver- tical platform lift with a contemporary look and feel, an extruded aluminum enclosure package is available for our Model CDE and a. PCDE. This package includes aluminum side guards, complimented by a stainless steel grab rail and call/sends. Architect White is the q, standard color for ianonal ' extruded aluminum c.herdfi vsu,r Our aluminum grab rail is a required option on all " J commercial lifts. _U A stainless steel face plate with emergency platform light- ing is available as an option. To make the unit more secure, an on/off keyed switch can be added on all operating panels. Low Profile Carriage _ We encourage all vertical platform lifts to be installed in a pit to provide the user an unobstructed entrance to the unit. However, many applications cannot be pitted and a lower level ramp is required. Ramps are typi- cally 30" long. Our"low profile carriage"option is available on all enclosed vertical platform lifts. This feature reduces the lower landing height by approximately 50%. National Wheel-O-Vator's design reduces the ramp length to 16" in new construction and as short as 10" in existing construction. The low profile carriage decreases the total space required and greatly enhances user convenience. Model WOV 355 _ The WOV355 is a vertical platform lift that looks like an elevator. This t model has a 1:2 roped hydraulic drive and full height interior platform walls. A suspended style ceiling with florescent lighting is also provided to complete the enclosure. Similar to our other vertical models, the con- trol panel buttons on the WOV 355 require constant pressure for the lift E ' to raise and lower. April 28 , 1998 Mayor Stanley Usovicz City of Salem 93 Washington Street Salem, Mass . 01970 RE: Federal St . School Dear Mayor Usovicz : On April 28, 1998 at approximately 8 : 05 a .m. , I received a call from Paul L'Heureux the Director of Building Services for our schools, concerning a board that had come loose and fallen from the brick roof vents at the Federal Street School . He informed me that he contacted a contractor and had a lift on the job site so as to re-secure any further loose items at the roof vents and felt I should inspect said brick vents while the lift was on site . At approximately 9 : 15 a .m. I met with Mr. L'Heaureux, Mr. Collins of the Engineering Department and Mr. Plant of Boston Chimney at the job site . At which time I climbed aboard the lift and conducted an inspection of all roof top brick vents . It is my finding that all of the brick vents are unsafe and should be removed as soon as possible. But my greater concern of the moment are the two brick vents located nearest the Federal St. School front entrance at the right hand side facing the building should be removed immediately to a safe height. Speaking to the contractor on site he estimated that this could be done in approximately four ( 4 ) days, I recommended this be done immediately. The remainder of the roof brick vents should also be removed as soon as the school year is completed. I do feel that the work being done on the existing cables will secure the brick vents temporarily until the school closing. As we see it, the Garaventa Stair-Lift removes this barrier, providing disabled people with a freedom others take for granted. To us the Garaventa Stair-Lift is much more than a wheelchair lifting device; it's a means of providing disabled people with mobility and independence, and the feeling that's reflected here in their faces and in their smiles. THREE MODELS TO MEET YOUR NEEDS MODEL GSL-1 The key feature of the GSL-1 is its use of parallel steel support tubes and unique drive system to handle turning stairways. The attractive, elegant design and aesthetic appearance of the THE PATENTED DRIVE GSL-1 blend with the finest setting. system gives the GSL-1 its Created in a three-dimensional configuration, the tubes follow unique character. A special any stairway. A single GSL-1 system can ascend many levels, stopping like an elevator at each floor to provide total building wire rope fitted with plastic access. guides travels inside the support tubes and moves the wheelchair platform up and down the stairway. b. ' THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE GSL-1 enables it to overcome many access challenges. In this installation the tubes span a long horizontal section between flights, allowing one system to provide access to several floors. MODEL GSL-2 When straight stairways without intermediate landings prevent access, Garaventa's GSL-2 is the answer. The GSL-2 incorporates a different drive system and a C-Channel support rail which is extremely cost-effective a for this type of application. Depending on wall construction, the rail can attach directly to the wall or be ®` supported by towers. COMPACT. The GSL-2 system shown in this typical school installation occupies minimal space on straight stairways. 14425/GAR Buy[ ine 0681 MODEL GSL-3 The GSL-3 is designed to follow both the inside and outside radius of turning stairways. Except for its unique ability to - fcllow the outside radius, it is identical to the G'SL-1 in all other respects. T,ie GSL-3 can be especially convenient in a-eas with restricted space for platform Icading or parking, or in locations where it is not convenient or feasible to attach the Stair-Lift to the central core of th= stairway. P e FREE-STANDING TOWERS are used to support the tubes on landings. On horizontal \ sections, both GSL-1 and GSL-3 use a third (center) \ tube, to ensure smooth platform travel. ALL MODELS....
