NOTICE OF DENIAL OF APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
On Wednesday, November 6, 1985, the Salem Historical Commission voted 7-0
to deny the application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for installation
of aluminum thermal paned windows on the third floor of 313 Essex Street. This
vote was based on the Commission's finding that this installation would have a
negative impact on the building's architectural integrity. The Commission
advocates the use of original materials whenever possible. Given the fact x-hal
storm windows already exist, the gain in energy efficiency by installing alumi-
num windows would be minimal and such an alteration would be incongruous to the
historic aspects and architectural characteristics of the surrounding McIntire
Historic District.
I, Joan F. Pizzello, Clerk of Commission,
attest t this is an aca'ufate record of the vote taken, not amended or modified
