next two historic meetings.

Hello Natalie,
t
I
will need to file for a 8 week extension, because the salem building comissioner will not meet again for
another 4 weeks, at which point I will have to begin advertising the project for the next public hearing. I missed
the window for the next one.
Can you send me the paperwork to fill out?
Thank you and Regards,

Hi Lloyd,
Would you be able to bring details on the widow's walk railing to the meeting tonight? The Historical

may not have much to review and may request to continue the application until there is additional
information.

Hatch Point of Entry
The hatch proposed for this construction is Bilco type L roof hatch. Due to its low clearance, the hatch will be out of line of
site from the street. Description of the hatch is below.
"Type L roof hatch, 30"x 96" (762mm x 2438mm), ideal for installations where frequent use may be expected. Permits easier
movement maintenance personnel, tools and equipment from a full size stairway. Available in galvanized steel, aluminum,or
stainless steel construction."
More information can be found on Bilco's website below.
Hatch General Information: http://www.bilco.com/foundations/store/shopdetail.asp?product=lL-1*Type-L-Roof-Hatch
Hatch Specifications: http:/Iwww.bilco.com/foundations/store/shopdetall.asp?product=lL-1*Tvpe-L-Roof-
H atch*Type-L-Roof-Hatch&tab=docs
Plans and Elevation
The construction consists of one hatch point of entry and two platforms to be constructed on a flat tar roof of elevation 65
feet. The hatch point of entry will be constructed as a continuation of the main stairwell. The flat tar roof is 3709 square
feet.
To minimize street visibility, the two 15'x20' platforms will be placed in the southern section of the roof. One platform will be
constructed in ownership of unit J and the other in ownership of unit I. Roof rights to these units have already been
established on the master deed.
To further minimize visibility and increase safety, all construction will be done 3'from the perimeter of the roof. Railing
height is standard 42"for widow's walks and roof decks. We are completely flexible regarding the appearance of the railing.
Only the top few inches should be visible from any vantage points. We may consider black cast iron railing to make the
construction less noticeable, or if it is the Commission's preference we could install white railings similar to those in the
Salem common and other widow's walks local to Derby Street.
