R/Jessica -------- Forwarded Message -------- Su bj ect:Exterior Work @ 2 Chestnut Street Date:Wed, 28 Oct 2015 22:29:08 -0400 From:Jessica Herbert <iherbert5@comcast.net> To:Baronb i l lrayeaaol.com CC:Natalie Lovett<nlovett@a,Salem.com>, David Hart (E-mail) <davidatsalem@comcast.net> Dear Bill, As we discussed, the Historical Commission will need to have two pieces of information to approve the work you are planning for the exterior of your building. First, we will need a brief description of the work to be performed by your contractor, particularly: (a) the composition of the grout to be used to point up the brick work. For example: 1 part cement, 3 parts lime, and 6 parts sand, and (b) the method to be used to restore the brownstone. Note: The Peabody-Essex Museum has recently completed restoration of the brownstone on two of its buildings on Essex Street, and we have requested that they share the information on the particular techniques and materials used in their project. I should have that information by week's end and will pass that along to you and your contractor for comparison. Second, we will need a letter of confirmation from the owners of your condominium confirming agreement on the work to be performed. Thank you for understanding the Commission's requirements for approval of restoration work on historic buildings in our historic districts. if you have any further questions, please feel free to give me a call at 978-479-9325.
