Our office has received multiple complaints including one dated January 8, 2013from the Salem Police
Department regarding your property located at 11 Read Street—Unit#1
The concerns relate to possible prior water leak that has caused water damage and the concern that this original water
leak has not been correct, as no plumbing permits have been issued through this Department.A site visit was made on
January 9, 2013 along with the Salem Health Department, there was no one apparently home at this time and a card was
left affixed to the door.
Under the provisions of 780 CMR, Section 104.6—Right of Entry, of the State Building Code, access to this property
must be granted for the purposes of this inspection. Please call this office immediately upon receipt of this letter,i,j'
this property has rental units, these tenants must be notified in advance of this inspection, so that access to these
spaces may also be accomplished.
This Required Inspection shall be conducted by this office on Monday, January.14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.; failure to
respond to this notification will be construed as non-compliance, and as such an Administrative Search Warrant will be
sought, so as to allow the lawful inspection of this property. If you feel you are aggrieved by this order, your appeal
is to the Board of Buildings, Regulations and Standards in Boston.

Dear Mr. Vello:
This office has received a complaint regarding Unit116 at 13 Read
Street , concerning the amount of persons occupying this unit . I have
made an inspection of said dwelling and occupance of Unit#6 were not
at home. I need you to call my office to verify how many people are
occupying this unit. I aslo need to know who is in charge of building,
as a Condo Association. We have violations in common areas that need
to be addressed:
lll) Fire hazard in basement of stored materials.
112) Circulation pump wireing must be made safe.
113) Electrical relays at furnace must be made safe.
114) Hand rails at front stairs needs to be secured.
115) Edge strip on second level at stairway has been removed and nails .
are sticking out.
116) Several code violations from Health and Fire Department must be
attended to.
Please contact this office upon receipt of this letter to inform
us of your course of action. Failure to do so will result in legal action
being taken. Thany you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

Re: 11 Read Street, Salem
Dear Peter:
Please be advised that I have been contacted by the owners of 7 Read Street,
Salem, MA, relative to the abutting property at 11 Read Street (a six-unit condominium
building). Apparently, a down spout at 11 Read Street is being directed onto the
sidewalk and consequently flows down in front of 7 Read Street, creating an icy
condition and a public safety hazard to anyone trying to navigate that sidewalk. Said
owners of 7 Read Street indicated to me that they attempted contact with various owners
of the condominiums as well as your office sometime last year, however, received no
response to this dangerous situation.
Would you kindly investigate same and let me know of your findings. Perhaps a
letter to the condominium association would assist in your efforts to get the downspout
re-directed away from sidewalk. Also, I believe that the driveway at 7 Read Street
directly abuts that property, and would ask that when the downspout is re-directed, that it
not be directed into that driveway either.
