SALEM, MASS. 01970 May 24, 1979 Board of Appeal City of Salem Salem, Massachusetts 01970 Ladies and Gentlemen: CITY OF SALEM HEALTH DEPT. The Salem Historical Commission has reviewed the preliminary plans for the building proposed by William McKinnon for 18=20 Kosciusko Street. This site is located within the Derby Street Historic District and, therefore, details of the exterior construction will come under the Commission's jurisdiction at a later date. At this time, however, the Commission would like to express to you its enthusiastic support for the preliminary plans in concept and subject, of course, to our later detailed review. We congratulate the petitioner for what we feel will make a positive contribution to the historic quality of the architecture of the Darby Street area and would suggest to you that in this case, set -back, lot size, and density requirements might be waived to permit new construction consistent with the topography of this historic neighborhood. If I can be of any assistance in this matter, do not hesitate to call upon me. I remain, Very truly yours, Jacob S. Wolfson Chairman JSWsebw cc William H. K. Donaldson; Board of Health, City of Salem
