Illegal third floor apartment at 26 Pleasant Street, which is-in a R-2 zone. Please notify this department within fifteen ( 15) days upon receipt of this letter, to inform us as to what course of action you will take to rectify these violations. The owner informs me that you have no intention of doing so. Please read the enclosed letter sent to owner by this office . It is mandatory that you find another location to live in . This department will allow you twenty ( 20 ) days to find another apartment. If this is not accomplished within twenty ( 20 ) days I will file a criminal complaint with the Salem District Court to have you removed. Gutters are missing along side of house near main entrance . 2 . Chimney at roof top requires major repairs . (Bricks fallen) . 3 . Light is not working at front vestibule . 4 . New heating duct must be covered with installation or boxed in with sheet rock. 5 . Roof is leaking at third floor . 6 . Thermostats must be provided for each unit . Repair all broken glass and missing windows on storm windows . 2 . Install gutter at side entrance to stop icing on entrance stairs . 3 . Repair and install door closers at side and rear entry doors . 4 . Install hand rails per building codes at rear entry. 5 . Repair or install new egress door at rear entry. 6 . Repair bulkhead door to basement and install back lock. Lock to open front inside of basement . 7 . Install proper lighting at entries side and rear. 8 . Repair or install light in basement . 9 . Install smoke detectors in hallways , basement , and at outside locations of bedroom. 10 . Repair or replace fixtures in kitchen and in bedroom. 11 . Install solid core doors to side and rear of apartment entrance . 12 . Closet door doesn ' t function properly ( repair ) . 13 . Ceiling in livingroom plaster is fallen and must be repaired. 14 . Remove lawn mower from stairwell . 15 . Remove debris from stairwell to third floor. 16 . Install missing ballasters on side entry stairwell . 17 . Install handrail at rear stairwell . 18 .
