Sincerely, v Amy Lash Staff Planner CITY OF SALEM SCOPE OF SERVICES The City of Salem seeks professional design services for the design of a plaza. The locus is approximately 6,500 square feet of land located within the public way at the corner of Washington Street and New Derby Street. This space, which is currently underutilized, is in front of the Salem News Redevelopment, another keystone in the continuing redevelopment of the downtown. RCG, the developer of the Salem News Redevelopment, created a concept drawing for this space. The City is seeking the services of a design professional to move the concept forward through the design and permitting process. The City is seeking a design that will allow the space to be occupied by businesses that have an outdoor program, such as outdoor cafe seating. The design must meet ADA requirements. Built and natural features on site shall be considered for inclusion in the new design. The professional services requested include: • Meet with staff of the Salem Department of Planning and Community Development to discus the scope of the project, and review submittal requirements and deadlines for meetings of the Salem Redevelopment Authority (SRA) and their Design Review Board (DRB). • Prepare schematic design drawings and submit fourteen (14) sets to the Department of Planning and Community Development. ■ Attend one (1) meeting of the Salem Redevelopment Authority and one (1) meeting of the Design Review Board to present the schematic design and obtain input. • Modify and revise design drawings based on input from the Salem Redevelopment Authority and Design Review Board for consideration and final design approval. • Submit fourteen (14) sets of final design drawings to the Department of Planning and Community Development. • Attend one (1) meeting of the Design Review Board and one (1) meeting of the Salem Redevelopment Authority to obtain final design approval. • Prepare final construction documents and a construction cost estimate. Submit ten (10) sets of construction documents to the Department of Planning and Commumty Development, as well as an electronic copy. Timeframe: • A schematic design shall be submitted within four weeks of receipt of a notice to proceed. • The final design shall be submitted no later than three weeks after Design Review Board's schematic level review. • The construction documents shall be completed within two weeks after the final design is approved.
