This Department received a complaint regarding your property at#4 Pleasant Street
Our office conducted a site-visit to the property on September 12, 2017
During the site-visit, it was determined that your property is in violation of City Ordinance:
Please trim any vegetation hanging over or obstructing the sidewalk in any way
Sec. 38-9. Obstructions by shrubbery.
No tenant, occupant, or owner having the care of any building or lot of land bordering on any
street, lane, court, square, or public place within the city shall allow any bushes, shrubbery, or
any other form of plant growth to obstruct the safe passage of any pedestrian on any such
street, lane, court, square, orpublic place.
(Code 1973, §26-9.1)
You are directed to have the sidewalk cleared of all obstructions within seven(7) days of
receipt of this notice.
Failure to resolve the issues cited above will be construed as non-compliance and may result in
the issue of municipal tickets and fines as well as further enforcement actions.

Notice of Building Code Violations

Mr. Lewis,
Our office received a complaint regarding your property located at 4 Pleasant Street. The complaints were
investigated on July 2, 2012. Said property was found to be in violation of multiple Massachusetts State
Building Code requirements. Conditions that have been deemed to be insufficient;
Numerous locations on the building's exterior trim,fascialsoffit and clapboards are deteriorating and
thus constituting a hazard to the public and current occupants of the dwelling. This continued neglect of
the building's envelope is allowing for the continued decline to the structures exterior. Under the
provisions of Massachusetts State Building Code(780 CMR Section 3400.4)
Railing attachments to the buildings structure at all entrance stairs are not in accordance with State
Building Code requirements. Under the provisions of Massachusetts State Building Code(780 CMR
Section 3400.4)
You are hereby directed to contact this office immediately upon receipt of this letter. Failure to respond to
this notification will be construed as non- compliance, and as such an Administrative Search Warrant will be
sought, so as to allow the lawful inspection of this property. If you feel you are aggrieved by my zoning
interpretation, your Appeal is to the Salem Zoning Board of Appeals. If you feel you are aggrieved by the
Building code sections, your Appeal is to the Board of Buildings, Regulations and Standards in Boston.
