(lyre Sttlem (l5reetr April 28, 1997 Charles Dailey Clipper Ship Inn 40 Bridge Street Salem, MA 01970 RE: Site Plan Review Special Permit- 40 Bridge Street Dear Mr. Dailey: On December 5, 1991, the Salem Planning Board voted to issue a Site Plan Review Special Permit to allow the construction of a 10,395 s.f.,two-story, 30 unit addition to the Clipper Ship Inn located at 40 Bridge Street. The Special Permit included twelve(12) special conditions.(See attached) The approved plan for this project indicates that the area to the rear of the addition fronting on Thorndike Street was to be seeded and used for snow storage. This area was also shown as a fenced in area. The present condition of this portion of the property does not conform to the approved site plan. In addition, condition#11 of the Special Permit states that, "The property line of the Clipper Ship Inn along Thorndike Street shall be cleaned-up annually in the spring and Fall". A visual inspection of this property conducted on April 22, 1997 revealed that this clean up has not been done and the property is in need of clean up. I would like to request that these issues be addressed immediately. This matter will be brought before the Planning Board at their May 15, 1997. If these violations of the conditions of the Special Permit are not addressed by May 15, 1997,the Board will have no choice but to discuss the revocation of this permit.
