NOTICE OF DENIAL OF APPLICATION
FOR A WAIVER OF DEMOLITION DELAY ORDINANCE
RE: 141 Boston Street Application Date: 10/21/13
On Wednesday,November 6, 2013,the Salem Historical Commission,by a unanimous vote,voted to deny a Waiver
of the Demolition Delay Ordinance without prejudice from Peter Copelas for demolition of a single family house at
141 Boston Street. The denial was due to there being historically appropriate alternatives to demolition and the
effect that demolition will have on the historic streetscape.
The Commission encourages the owner to work with a real estate broker to develop a reuse proposal that preserves
the house while also maximizing the economic benefit to the applicant. The Commission is willing to lend its
support to these efforts.
