Electric Co. :in order to p:rov:icie off-street parking for the Pricher i.ng it'harf project. the Pickering Miarf dovel- oper has provisions for commercial parking ;and resident parkin, on their site but with the growth of the p:-oject additional parking is nrodad. The parking area would be visually ,nLegral with the Pickering 11mi-E project and that :it wouldbe treated as a Part of the overall_ project, including landscaping. ng. Mr. Pliinhctt noted that there is. going to be a heavy influx of traffic with the dcvel_opment of the Pickcring 117rar�f project: and this scoijis li.ke the best po�sibl.e solo- tiou to relieve the arca of parking problems. The site is convenient and close to . the:• development area and this would be beneficial to keep the cars off the street. This particular site has been vacant for at least .fi:ve years. David_ Lash, repre.sent:ing the Planning Dept. spoke in favor of the petition noting t7h,11 this use of the site would relieve the n ighborhood of the parking problem. Atty. Plunkett stated that the Petitioners would be willing to discuss providing off street parking for the local abutters. T1ie Board voted to grant the variance requested with the following restrictions: I. Submission of drainage and landscaping plan; 2. The wall. along Peabody St. iema:ins and v:Jll be. maintained; 3. The. fence around the generator will be restricted in height; 4. The other fence around the area will be no more than 8 ft. :in height; 5. The parking area wil.l be establ.i.shed in accordance with the supplementary regulations of the Zoning Orduiance. The Board found the use of the site for off-street parking an appropriate use for an Tndustrial Disb:i_ct and that it would be beneficial to the public in alleviating the pm-king problems i.n the area.
