March 21, 2012, Required Inspection letter are no longer outstanding with this Department. Your
property is presently a one (1)—unit residence as required by City Ordinance, and does not contain any
living areas in the basement at this time.

Our office received a complaint regarding your property located at 1 Parlee Street, alleging an illegal
basement apartment in violation of the City of Salem Zoning Ordinance chapter 6-1 for a multi- family
residence in a location zoned for(R-1)one family residences.
Under the provisions of 780 CMR, Section 104.6—Right of Entry, of the State Building Code,
access to this property must be granted for the purposes of this inspection. If this property has
rental units,these tenants must be notified in advance of this inspection, so that access to these
spaces may also be accomplished.
This inspection is scheduled for Wednesday March 28 at 1:00 P.M.
You are hereby directed to contact this office immediately upon receipt of this letter. Failure to
respond to this notification will be construed as non- compliance, and as such an Administrative Search
Warrant will be sought, so as to allow the lawful inspection of this property. If you feel you are
aggrieved by my zoning interpretation, your Appeal is to the Salem Zoning Board of Appeals. If you
feel you are aggrieved by the Building code sections, your Appeal is to the Board of Buildings,
Regulations and Standards in Boston. If you have any further questions regarding this letter,please call
