Dear Sir,
We spoke briefly on 10/4/95 at 12 noon regarding a residence at 12 parallel St.in Salem. I occupy
the second floor as a tenant. The rental period on the tenancy agreement commenced on 8/1/95,
The owner,Mr.Robert Vaillancourt has informed me that the residence is registered with the city of
Salem as a one family dwelling. This information was not disclosed to me prior to my acceptance
of the terms and conditions specified on the tenancy agmement.
Therefore,it is my assumption that the Wment is illegal. Also,because Mr. Vaillartcourt insists on
cash neat as an additional requirement for continued tenancy,it is my further assumption the he does
not intend to report proceeds Som rem as taxable income.
I find thyself in a rather urgent situation. If the apartment is in fact an illegal dwelling,there are no
laws which would protect me in the event of an eviction far refusing to pay cash rent Therefore,I would
like to request an investigation of the residence. If you feel that such an action is not within the scope or
capacity of operation for your office,could you niease assist me by notifying the oMger gMclal
