Dear Owners,
This Department has received a complaint regarding the removal of a portion of a steel fire escape. While
looking at that complaint I noticed the condition of the exterior decks, which are not in great shape and need a
closer inspection.Therefore a required inspection , per Mass State Building code 780 CMR section 103, is
scheduled for Thursday,October 23 at ten O'clock. All areas of the building will need to be accessed for this
inspection. If you have any questions,please contact me directly.

Dear Owner,
This letter is a follow up to the undated letter sent last week. The inspection confirmed the need to repair,
replace or remove the exterior three level decks. The inspection also confirmed the need to replace the missing
piece of fire escape. The interior common spaces needed to have the emergency lights and hall lighting
repaired. The basement needs a general cleaning and an area near the gas meters has pipes that appear to have
exposed asbestos on them. .
The decks and fire escape need to be taken care of within 30 days of this notice. The asbestos also needs to
handled properly and I am directing you to contact the Salem Health Department for their requirements.
If you feel you are aggrieved by this order,your Appeal is to the Board of Buildings ,Regulations and Standards
in Boston.

R.E Ordinance Violation
Dear Owners,
This Office received and confirmed a complaint regarding the placement of a dumpster at your
property. The Dumpster has been place on the sidewalk in front of the building. City of salem
Ordinance 38-7 prohibits obstructing the sidewalk. Additionally, Ordinance 24-23 deals with
the permitting and location of permanent dumpsters. You can access the ordinances through the
City's website(w.w.w Salem .com) and clicking on Departments, then City Clerk, and then
Ordinances. You are directed to remove the dumppster within 5 days of receipt of this notice.
Failure to do so will result in Municipal Code Tickets and further enforcement actions. Thank
