Proposed Signage: The proposal includes the installation of two signs, one wall sign and
one window sign, along Essex Street. The wall sign will a 24" x 78"
(13 sq ft) MDO wall sign with a black smaltz background w/white
lettering spelling"SPELLBOUND GHOSTLY PARLOR".
The window sign will be 30" x 57" (11 sq ft) with gold lettering
attached directly to the window spelling"SPELLBOUND
GHOSTLY PARLOR".
Total Area of Sign(s): 24 sq. ft.
Comments: Spellbound is moving from 190 Essex Street (inside SRA District) to
131 Essex Street (outside of the SRA District)
Recommendation: This application has been modified and approved by the Design Review
Board and approved with the DRB recommendations by the SRA. I would
recommend approval as approved by the SRA.

SIGN PERMIT PROCESS
All exterior signs,awnings and interim sigma that can be sem fiom the exterior ate
requited to have a City of Salem Sign permit before erection can tape place.
Please be aware that in some meas throughout the City,review by a governing Board
must take place before a City permit can be issued. These areas include the Urban
Renewal Area;Local Historic Districts;and Entrance Corridor Overlay Dis uft
All applications must be completed and submitted with:

• Method of Attachment

There is a twenty dollar($20.00)minim®permit fee for each application. If the estimated cost
of construction and auction is 52,000.00 m more,a fee of$10.00 per$1,000.00 pts a$5.00

Please sate that a licensed electrician most instill my sign or ancillary lighting and sign
boxes most be UL listed. An Electrical Permit must be obtained from the City of Salem
Electrical Department,49 Lafayette Street,and be submitted with the sign application
before a sige permit will be hmsed.
Also,please be aware that ary sip or awning hong over a public way or sidewalk shag
require a surety bond in the sum of one thousand dollars(51,000.00)conditioned to save
harmless the City from any claims. This bond most be placed on file in the City Clews
oflce. A copy of such bond must be submitted with the sip application before a sign permit
will be hsued.
