In accordance with Sec. 3-56 of the Salem Sign Ordinance and the Massachusetts Outdoor Advertising Board, MGL Ch. 93 Sec. 30 & 32, your proposed sign does not meet the requirements for off-premise signs. Furthermore, it has come to my attention that a sign has recently been erected in the alleyway between 131 Essex Street& 129 Essex Street where your ice cream establishment is located. The Salem Sign Ordinance requires all signs to be reviewed and approved prior to their installation, and is therefore an illegal sign. Please remove the sign from your establishment within 14 days upon receipt of this letter,or we will forward this matter to the Building Inspector who will enforce the penalties and fines under Sec 3.36,Sec 3.29,Sec. 3.57 of the Salem Sign Ordinance and 780 CMR Sec 3102.4 of the Building State Code.
