Ms. Rim Driscoll Salem Redevelopment Authority Salem, MA RE:Emergency Sash Replacement 217 Essex Street Salem, MA Dear Ms. Driscoll: As per our phone conversation this morning, we have been contracted by Eastern. Bank to replace all the sash on the 5th floor of the Essex Street Facade, and approximately six sash units on the north and south facades of the Sth floor. This work is necessary because dry rot has settled into the majority of the original sash, incapacitating their structural and weatherproofing attributes. When it rains or snows, water enters the building, damaging interior finishes. There are even some locations where the gla2irc has totally separated itself from the wood sash, hanging suss;raded from the top rail. Enclosed is a shop drawing illustrating how we plan on replacing the sash. It shall be replicated in every way except we will be installing 1/2" insulated gla2ing in lieu of 1/4" plate glass. The exterior sash and muntin bar shall be painted black to match the existing windows. There is a certain lead time attached to these windows and fabrication will not proceed until you send me written approval. Please call me at the office with any questions or comments.
