24 Front Street (Boon) - Proposed Signage
PROPOSAL:
The proposal includes the installation of two signs — one along Front Street and one
along the alley behind the store. The Front Street sign will be 24" x 24" attached at a
right angle to the building and the applicant is proposing a blue internal light to show
through the die cut. The sign along the alley will be 12" x 14" attached flat against
the wall. Both will be a dark metal background with die cut diamonds.

Sign Permit Application
➢ Scale Drawing: two versions attached. Twenty-four by twenty-
eight inches (pg 3) for the front of the store and twelve by
fourteen inches for the back (pg 4).
➢ Color Scheme: shown on sign option page (pg 2)
➢ Typestyle / Font: was invented by the designer, but is a close
match to Futura. No additional type to be used beyond the logo.
➢ Letter Size: only the logo. Logo is 11 inches on 24x28 sign and
5&1/2 inches on 12x14 sign as illustrated on pages 3-4.
➢ Method of Attachment: is two metal bars as seen on page 3 and
screws on plaque version as seen on page 4.
➢ Method of Lighting: would be only the small internal blue light if
permitted.
➢ Dimensions: 24x28 & 14x12 shown on page 3-4 diagrams.

Proposed Signage: The proposal includes the installation of a 2'x 2'dark metal hanging
sign with die cut diamonds and a blue internal light to show through
the die cuts. Also a 12" x 14" dark metal wall sign to locate along
alleyway,which is also internally illuminated w/blue light and die cut
diamonds.
Total Area of Sign: 4 sq. ft. for hanging sign - 1.2 sq ft for wall sign
DRB Approval: 9/22/04
SRA Approval: 10/13/04
Recommendation: This application has been approved by the Design Review Board and
approved with the DRB recommendations by the SRA. I recommend
approval as approved by the SRA.

RECOMMENDATION:
At their meeting on September 22, 2004,the Design Review Board recommended
approval of the proposed signage with the following conditions: the sign along Front
Street must have a cover on all sides of the sign and the conduit for the light must be
concealed in the bracket; and the sign along the alley must be covered on all sides, be
placed one inch from the building and not be illuminated.
