Dear Mr. Curtin:
Enclosed is your application for a building permit to construct a deck
at 10 Orchard St. , Salem. I have also enclosed your check in the amount of
Twenty Three dollars ($23.00) , the fee for said building permit.
I am unable to issue a permit for this deck as the deck will encroach
on setback requirements and will violate the City of Salem Zoning
Ordinance. In order to construct this deck, relief from the Zoning
Ordinance must be obtained from the Zoning Board of Appeal. I have
enclosed application and instructions for your convenience.
