Re:abutters concerns
Dear owners,
This Department was asked to follow up on a visit by the Salem Police regarding a fence issue as well as a
drainage issue. The first issue is the attachments that have placed on the fence. This office has no way for sure
to document who owns the fence, but it appears that is likely belonging to 37 Oakland Street. I have based my
opinion on the footing location and the fact that the wire tie securing the chain-link are almost always on the
owners side of the fence. I would strongly suggest that you prove your ownership before adding any
attachments to the fence. Shy of definite proof of ownership, both parties should leave the fence alone.
The second issue is drainwater. . You cannot intentionally direct your rainwater onto another property. The
series of conductor pipes you have rigged up clearly divert your rainwater onto the property at 37 Oakland.
There is Mass General Law that covers this issue and if needed we will produce it. I would also suggest that
You remove the drainpipes. If you have any questions, please contact me directly
