McIntosh Zoning Enforcement Officer Building Inspector RTMCI/jc Enclosure ti. 229 North St e e ,6f Salem, M 0 270., Ut August Building Inspector City Hall Washington Street Salem, Ma. 01970 ATTN: Mr. MacIntosh, Dear Mr. Mac Intosh, As per our telephone conversation the other day and a discussion with my lawyer, I am ,requesting a copy or., ruling of the ordinance or law regarding the parking requirements for homeowners renting on Granite Street. I was informed sometime ago, by ,the decease Councilor George F. McCabe that if I considered in changing my home into two apartments, that I was obligated to provide a parking area of 11/2 car space for my tenant. It is hard to believe that as a lawyer and councilor for many years he would mislead myself and other people in the ward. Within the next few months there will be changes of tenants and homeowners which will create a tremendous parking problem on Granite Street both summer and winter. I donot feel that the homeowners of one family homes should suffer this burden brought on by landlords . This problem should be their responsibility. In view of the fact that the present landlords believe :there are no laws or ordinance in effect as such only that to park as "first come, first serve. " I would appreciate hearing from you on the legal findings or rulings of this matter in order to correctly inform them and leave No Doubt in their minds of their responsibility. In turn it will also enable me to make decisions regarding my own home and a clear picture of the legal status at hand. I donot recomend this to be taken up with the present ward Councilor George P. McCabe as he is a great friend of the Whites , who is the main problem in this matter and his hate for me since his father' s death 3 years ago. He would not use an open mine on the subject and I 'm sure he would do nothing to resolve it. Awaiting your reply and thanking you for your help in this matter, I remain Sincerely yours , /Q FOR YOUR INFORMATION: Mr. Henry White 3 Granite Street 3 Cars , 2 Vans and 2 Unregistered Cars Mr. George J.
