Under Section 116.0 of the Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR), you are required to begin to make this structure safe within 24 hours of receipt of this notice. You are hereby directed to take corrective measures to make these stairways safe and have them approved by our Department by 12:00 p.m., Tuesday June 30, 2015. Failure to address this situation may result in further action by the City of Salem, which can include this department causing the issuing of tickets or the possible removal of this unsafe structure, under the provisions of 780 CMR Section 121, followed by an attachment of liens to the appropriate properties to cause repayment of any incurred expenses.
