IX Al of the Salem Zoning Ordinance. Specifically said violations
are insufficient side yard clearance (less than 10') and failure to
obtain a building permit.
In compliance with Section IXB of the Zoning Ordinance you are hereby
ordered to remove the addition,
'Violations of any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall constitute
a misdemeanor. Any persons who violates this Ordinance, shall, upon
conviction thereof, be fined not more than twenty dollars, and in addition
shall pay all costs and expenses involved in the case. Each day such
violation continues shall be considered a separate offense. Nothing herein
contained shall prevent the City from taking such other lawful action as is
necessary to prevent or remedy any violation."
You Have the right to appeal this order to the Salem Board of Appeals.

Dear Mr. McIntosh:
On July 27, 1983, at a public hearing before the Board of Appeals
a number of violations were noted with respect to the above-referenced
property.
At that time, the Board denied the petition submitted by Mr. Arthur
Chalifour for a variance to allow the use of a loading dock for out-
door dining.
In addition, the Board ordered Mr. Chalifour to take certain steps to
remedy existing conditions which are set forth in your letter dated
January 7, 1983, to Mr. Chalifour and Mr. Roman J. Caron in which you
order them to take immediate action to resolve those said violations .
It has been brought to my attention by my client, Mr. Antonio Lenares
that nothing has changed , and that the conditions that existed in July
of 1983 and January of 1983 still exist.
Would you kindly notify Mr. Chalifour and Mr. Caron that hr. Lenares
has reached the end of his patience and will exercise all legal rights
in order that the situation is corrected.

A follow-up inspection was made of the above referenced property. On
May 3, 1993 a letter was sent to you itemizing violations that needed to be
corrected. I was pleased to note that a couple of the items on the list
had been taken care of; however, there are still a number of items yet to
be done.
The 4"x4" wood pole at the electrical service has not been repaired,
the unregistered vehicle is still there; nothing has been done to make the
metal garage structurally sound and the main building is still in need of
repair and remains an eyesore.
Again, I was pleased to see the quick response to the other items and
I am in hopes I can depend on your continued cooperation, and I will expect
to hear from you within thirty (30) days of receipt of this notice
informing me that the aforementioned items have been addressed.
