Dear Sir,
At your request an inspection was performed on April 28, 1976
at 21 North Street , Salem MA— The results of the inspection
are as follows :
1. The roof is leaking in a number of areas and
requires immediate repair.
2. The floor joists at both the first and second floors
far exceed the allowable span and require additional
supports . A number of the wood. 41lx4" columns
in the basement appear to have shifted. wood
columns should be replaced with an adequ umber
of metal lally columns enca ed in concYetat the
bottom and securely fasten�t the top. The present
floors must be jacked up before installing the new
supports to provide a level surface.

The stairs at the right rear egress door must be
replaced.
f The stairs at the left and center front must be
repaired.
,r The first and second floor sunporches must be repaired.

VIOLATIONS - cont 'd
Storage of rubbish or any other materials under
the basement stairs must be discontinued.
The basement stairway must have a two hour
fire enclosure. .
1q. The second floor must not be used for any purpose
until a second means of egress is provided.
Please give this matter your immediate attention as your
continued use of the property is based on your compliance.
Also, please obtain the necessary permits before starting
the repairs .

at 21 North Street, Salem MA. The results of the inspection
are as follows :
1. The roof is leaking in a number of areas and
requires immediate repair.
2 . The floor joists at both the first and second floors

columns should be replaced with an adequate number
of metal lally columns encased in concrete at the
bottom and securely fastened at the top. The
