Dear Mr. Shorton, -
At the request of your client, Ms. Linda Ellis, this department has
inspected the rear egress from Apartment 112 at 18 Lynde Street to _
establish whether this egress conform's to the Mass State Building Code
as a Legal Egress. _ - - ----
Mass General Law, 780 CMR, the Mass . State Building Code, defines a
"Means of egress" as a continous and unobstructed path of travel from
any point in a building or structure to a Public Way.
$De ''tt) die ,fact that in order to gain access to the rear stair's one
must unbolt and raise a trap door in the porch floor. It is the opinion _
.. = of 'this office that the egress is obstructed and therefore not a Legal
Means of Egress .
Respectfully,
William H Munroe
Inspector of Buildings
