SUBJECT: Green Land Cafe Outdoor Cafe Permit (87 Washington Street)

Attached please find a proposed plan for outdoor dining at the Green Land Cafe.
The proposal includes ten tables behind the cafe and three tables in front of the
cafe on Washington Street. A portion of the proposed dining area behind the cafe
will be on property owned by the SRA.
If the SRA is supportive of the proposal, it will be forwarded to the DRB for
review.
GREEN LAND CAFE - Outdoor Patio Furniture
We plan to use chairs like the one featured in the photograph. All metal in black.
The tables will also be metal —in black. Dimensions: 28" x 28"

GREEN LAND CAFE - Outdoor Stanchions
These stanchions are manufactured 39" in height— we plan to alter them to 29" in height.
The stanchions and the chain will be black.
The manufacturer describes them as:
Deluxe Heavy Duty Water Stanchion 4 Pack - span up to 12' when
filled with water. Great where extra stability is needed - or where you
want to span longer distances. 39" high, 3" wide, 14" base, weighs 16
lbs when filled with water. Includes C-hooks. 6mm or 8mm plastic
chain can be hooked to c-hooks or run continuously through slots
beneath decorative top. Great new product, perfect for outdoor use or
wherever extra weight is needed!

SRA Decision
At their meeting on April 8, 2009, the SRA voted to approve the March 26, 2009
DRB recommendation for the proposed signage and lighting 87 Washington
Street.
DRB Recommendation
At their meeting on March 26, 2009, the DRB voted to recommend approval of
the proposed signage and lighting at 87 Washington Street with the following
conditions:
- The size will be proportionally 6 inches shorter than presented;
- The bracket will be mounted in the middle of the band;
- The bolts that secure the bracket will be black; and
- The window lettering will be gold with an optional black band both of which
will be reviewed prior to the SRA meeting.
Staff Comment
The applicant has modified the proposal to conform to the DRB recommendation.
The window lettering has been reviewed and approved. The black band has
been eliminated from the proposal.
