Here is the brief list of suggestions for Trosi's:
Interior
1, Paint interior walls in the dining area, including the brick wall along Barton Square. I would recommend using warm/
vibrant colors (deep red/dark blue).
2. Paint the ceiling tiles a dark color(dark gray/black). This will de-emphasize the ceiling tiles.
3. Better lighting such as wall sconces (soft, consistent lighting). Small spot lights could be used to highlight artwork,
4. Install wood shelves between the existing columns along the southern wall. You could include a variety of small photos,
prints and other elements that relate to the history/culture/background of the owners.
5. Replace the vertical blinds with full length curtains
6. Include more plants (hanging and potted)
Exterior
1. Install window boxes (low cost and big impact) - It may be worthwhile to explore the wrought iron concept that they had
applied for originally (would require some more detailed drawings)
2. Install 2-3 hanging plants (low cost and big impact)
3, Paint recessed panels a contrasting color(such as dark blue). This will highlight the details of the facade and provide
visual interest.
4. Install small spotlight for hanging sign (improved visibility)
5. Minimize the amount of window graphics/window signs along the storefront window. I would recommend some simole
text along the base of the window and a well designed menu display (less is more).
6. Replace the existing storefront window with a set of folding arcadian doors that could be opened during warmer morths
of the year(this option would be expensive but is worth considering since it would have a huge impact)

As you know, the Design Review Board was very supportive of your application for
building improvements, but was not able to provide a positive recommendation for the
proposed decorative tile and iron planter. At the Design Review Board meeting,
members stated that additional information would be needed to ensure that the proposed
tile and iron feature would be compatible With the building.

Re: Troisi's Italian Cuisine
I have completed a review of the sign application for Troisi's Italian Cuisine and
would recommend the following:
I. Change the material of the awnings to a fabric material
2. Make sure that the awning has a loose valance that does not exceed 8" in height
3. Remove the lettering from the sloped portion of the awning. Some text could be
placed within the valance (similar to Bella Verona) This text should not exceed
5" in height
4. A hanging (blade) sign would be the most effective method for signage since it
can be seen from both directions on Washington Street(good for pedestrian
traffic and vehicular traffic) and fits with the character of the downtown. I
would recommend a 2' x 3' sign w/a decorative iron bracket.
5. The existing lighting is in disrepair and needs to be removed or replaced. New
light fixtures would add a lot of value to the appearance of the storefront and
would improve safety and visibility.
6. Adding a window box or hanging plants would make the storefront more
inviting (Main Street Window Box program)

Re: Troisi's Italian Cuisine
I have completed a review of the sign application for Troisi's Italian Cuisine and
would recommend the following:
I. Change the material of the awnings to a fabric material
2. Make sure that the awning has a loose valance that does not exceed 8" in height
3. Remove the lettering from the sloped portion of the awning. Some text could be
placed within the valance (similar to Bella Verona) This text should not exceed
5" in height
4. A hanging (blade) sign would be the most effective method for signage since it
can be seen from both directions on Washington Street (good for pedestrian
traffic and vehicular traffic) and fits with the character of the downtown. I
would recommend a 2' x 3' sign w/a decorative iron bracket.
5. The existing lighting is in disrepair and needs to be removed or replaced. New
light fixtures would add a lot of value to the appearance of the storefront and
would improve safety and visibility.
6. Adding a window box or hanging plants would make the storefront more
inviting (Main Street Window Box program)
