CIVIL/SITE ENGINEERING February 2, 2004 Ms. Amy Powers Winter Street Architects, Inc. 209 Essex Street Suite 300 Salem, MA 01970 Re: Pedestrian Overpass Salem Five Cent Savings Bank Salem, MA Dear Amy: At the time of the Design Development phase, a topographic survey had not been completed, and the new drain pipe was labeled as an 8-inch pipe. Prior to design work for the Construction Documents phase, we performed a topographic survey and obtained the pipe size and invert elevations of the existing drainage system. The existing drain pipe is a 6-inch pipe with an invert elevation of 28.90. Drainage calculations were performed utilizing this information and it was determined that a 4-inch PVC pipe was adequate. Since the existing drain pipe is 6 inches in diameter, we increase the required size of the new drain pipe from 4 inches to 6 inches. Please call me if you have any questions.
