Dear Mr. Wheatland:
At the Salem Redevelopment Authority meeting held on October 15, 1984,
the Authority voted to authorize the sale of land at 43-R Charter Street
to the Peabody Museum for the adjusted appraised value of $7,500.00.
The sole condition attached to the sale is that the eastern half of the
parcel, 3,401 square feet, must remain available to the public for
passive recreational use, similar to the present situation, and the
Peabody Museum must fully maintain in an adequate manner the entire
parcel. The disposition process which the Authority must adhere to is
as follows:
1. Appraisal of parcel by outside firm. (Completed)
2. Approval for sale from SRA Board. (Completed)
3. Acceptance of contract to purchase by potential purchaser.
4. Public disclosure by advertisement ten days prior to transfer
of land, in local newspaper.
5. Filing by purchaser of H.U.D. Form 6004, available at SRA
office.
6. Execution of Purchase and Sale Agreement, Contract for Sale, and
Deed.
7. Transfer of parcel.
If these conditions are acceptable, we would appreciate a letter of
acceptance to enable us to,begin the disposition process as outlined
above. In addition, if terms of the sale must be further detailed,
particularly relating to the method of payment, please inform us and
we can meet to disc hem.
