RECOMMENDATION: The DRB recommended approval of the sign as revised. The revisions include the letters being reduced in size and the background color was changed to a chalky blue. PROPOSAL: The proposal includes the installation of at 24" x 59" hanging sign that replaces the former Salem Physical Therapy Sign. It is chalky blue with white lettering and red accents. The sign was put up prior to receiving approval by the SRA. NOTE: The DRB requested to see the changes prior to final approval by the SRA but due to the timing of receiving the submittal,they were not able to review it before this packet was sent. After it was installed I received a letter from your office and I attended a few meetings to clear up the issue. Since this time my associate and I have continued to grow and we are very understaffed. I apologize for the delay in resolving this issue. Because I was the original builder of the sign I have needed to hire a sign company and we have been having a difficult time doing so. I was asked to come to this meeting tonight but my associate and I will be flying out on business from the twelfth to the eighteenth to Florida for some training. Due to my staffing issues I am unable to have someone stand in for us. If we can delay the process just a bit longer until I return from my business trip then I will focus greatly on getting this issue resolved. At the last meeting of the DRB, members recommended approval of the sign as submitted. The SRA did not accept the DRB Recommendation and referred back to you for further review. The SRA is okay with the design of the sign but feel the color is inappropriate for the building and the existing streetscape. They would like a sign that fits in with the other signage on the block. Ed Harding, Vice President, of Elite Physical Therapy will be at the meeting on Wednesday night to present different color options for the sign. He currently is thinking about painting the background black with red and white accents. The SRA also suggested that if the DRB members have suggestions, to offer them to the applicant on Wednesday night.
