At their meeting on May 14, 2008, the SRA voted to waive its procedures and
approved the proposed fagade alteration to reopen the entrance subject to the
DRB's review and approval.
DRB Recommendation
At their meeting on May 28, 2008, the DRB voted to approve the proposal.
Proposal
The proposal is to restore the front door entryway at 14 Derby Square that was
removed in 1994.

Proposal
The proposal is to restore the front door entryway at 14 Derby Square that was
removed in 1994.
At the May 14, 2008 Salem Redevelopment Authority meeting, the SRA waived
its procedures and approved the proposal subject to the DRB's review and
approval.

RE: 12/14 Derby Square — Statement of Proposal
To Whom It May Concern:
It is our intention, to restore the entrance door to 14 Derby Square. This
door was used by the previous tenant, Higginson Book Company prior to
our leasing the property in 1994.
Background: our current Unit (S 1) was made up of two separate rental
spaces, 12 and 14 Derby Square (see attached photo rendering and reduced
floor plan). In 1994 we decided, under a lease agreement w/ Mr. Follett, to
incorporate the two units into one. In so doing, with City of Salem's
approval, we closed-in the front and rear entry ways to 14 Derby Square
(southern most end of the building). Restoring this door wil l enable us to
facilitate the re-design of our floor plan for more effective use.
It is our intention that the restoration of this entry be completed as soon as
possible once we have obtained permission from the appropriate city
departments.

Restoration (pre 1994) of entrance door to 14 Derby Square — see
photos provided
a. Single solid wooden framed door (84" H x 41 '/�" W) w/
safety glass panel (65" H x 31" W); brass fittings, right
opening, pin pivot mounting; painted black to match existing
door at 12 Derby Sq.
b. Existing framework and casement from original door still
exists and will be utilized.
c. door will be custom made by Harvey Industries.
American Marine Model Gallery signage will be moved back to its
original location over and to the right of the awning. (see photos 1994
& 2008)
Due to the nature of the request, no scale drawing, building elevation,
or color samples have been submitted.
Copies of the "Existing Conditions" and approved 1994 "Proposed
Exterior Alterations to 14 and 12 Derby Sq" with architects' notations
are included.
