I represent Northeast ARC, Inc. the owner of the above referenced residential
property.' The.property has been occupied since 1974. Originally, eight (8) individuals
With intellectual.disabilities lived there in a group home. Northeast ARC provided 24-hour
supports to the residents which included educational programs and activities to be'as
independent as their disabilities would permit.
In keeping with current and new models of support as to how best to provide
independence to clients, Northeast ARC would like to create three (3) separate units in
the building. Two units would be for occupancy by two (2) young adults and the third unit
would be for one individual with a disability and for a staff person to provide overnight
support, if necessary. Staff on site will be tailored to the needs of each individual. The
Northeast ARC will continue to provide educational and other services and it will be
required for all resident clients to receive daily supports according to their needs.
No exterior dimensional changes to the building will be made except for a ramp
providing wheelchair access to the first floor unit.
In the opinion of the undersigned, use of the building will continue to be for an
educational purpose excepted from local zoning law in accordance with Massachusetts
General Laws Chapter 40A Section 3 (the "Dover Amendment"). Since a wheelchair
access ramp_is also excepted from local zoning, no dimensional changes to the non;=.:
