For some time, I have been concerned about a stream that appears to be polluted that runs along the left side of the property line (between Vincent's and the power lines. I do not think Vincent's is responsible for the problem because as the stream emerges from under Highland Avenue, via a pipe, it is already putrid. I raise this issue with you now because if any commissioner visits this site to review the storage tank issue, I think it would it would be appropriate to view this stream as well. This stream flows twelve months a year. It appears bright orange, has a large amount of algae and has a strong odor. XoN cq, z Conservation Commission Salem. Having pursued contractors for the waste disposal , plus a roof to cover the kennel area, the cost for the construction has ranged from $10,000 to $30,000. During the past several months we have been working on sub- dividing the land and constructing a building to house the Northeast Animal Shelter. At such time as they relocate from the basement of this building, it will likely be used for another purpose and not require a roofed kennel. The waste disposal system will still be installed to care for the waste lines from both the kennel floor and the bathtub provided they are still in use. The delay for the entire project has been in the need for topography maps, a culvert system to span the water and to have the land subdivided. The City of Salem had been informed of the possible delays well in advance of our telephone conversation. Respectfully, Robert J. Kart D.V.M.
