Power, III, Chairman =T Li' rid Salem Planning Board - r One Salem Green, 2nd Floor (;1 f 11 Salem, Massachusetts 01970 Re: Hawthorne Commons (formerly Ridgeside Apartments) 205 Highland Avenue Dear Mr. Power: On behalf of the owner and developer of the proposed residential apartment complex to be built at 205 Highland Avenue (former Vincent Potato Chip site) , I hereby request that the Planning Board amend the Site Plan Review Decision dated March 16, 2000, so as to incorporate the proposed changes to the site plan as shown on the revised plans filed herewith entitled "Hawthorne Commons, Salem, MA, revision date December 22 , 200011 (the "Plan") Specifically, the changes shown on the Plan are as follows: 1. The proposed addition of two free-standing garage buildings which will house a total of 20 garage spaces; and 2 . The elimination of two dumpsters located within the complex and the addition of a trash compactor located to the eastern side of the main entrance. The garage spaces are an amenity to the complex and will be located on the site where formerly surface parking was planned. There is no net loss of parking spaces. The elimination of the dumpsters within the site will avoid trash truck entry into the residential area and help decrease noise and debris throughout the site. The new compactor is located so as to be easily accessible from First Street and will be heavily screened so as not to be visible from First Street or any abutting properties. WW Walter B.
