We initially investigated and saw no signs or evidence of the business. However, after speaking with you the other day, I just want to affirm the options that you have. 1. You can seek a Special Permit per Section 5-3 of Salem Zoning Ordinance, to operate a home office. 2. Not see any customers at your property and have no signs on the exterior. Thank you for speaking with me and feel free to contact this office if you have any further questions. Sincerely, \ T omas St. Pierre Building Commissioner cc: Mayors Office Health Department yealmgvq Monday,November 22,2004 NOV 3 ® 2084 Salem Health Department CITY OF BOARD OF ALEM 93 Washington Street HEALTH Salem MA 01970 To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter to complain about a business operating at 35 Liberty Hill Avenue.Despite several telephone complaints to the Salem City Hall and to the Salem building department Doug York has operated a business(KEY Consulting)which takes up at least 25% of 35 liberty Hill Avenue's living space out of this dwelling for several years. I may be incorrect but I thought it was illegal to have a business in a residentially zoned area. Several years ago neighbors tried to put in businesses at 37 and 33 Liberty Hill Avenue through proper channels and were denied. However,Key consulting has never done so. Also I am a licensed Electrician and some of the wiring that I have seen in the basement causes me serious concern for my family's and my safety. There are extension cords strewn all over the basement with multiple devices plugged into them. There has also been some electrical wiring done recently in the basement that I feel is dangerous and done by unqualified personnel. In conclusion,I would appreciate some sort of investigation into this business and the potentially dangerous wiring on these premises.
