Dear Mr. Tremblay:
I am in receipt of opinions written by the City Solicitor,
Robert A. Ledoux-,..re.lative to 5 Eatrr-n1±t + + met, 5– c
Street, -& 4 Valley Street a ard-72 et, as
grandfathered lots. The former Building Inspector, William
Monroe, denied these permits and the owners were told to go to the
Board of Appeals .
On behalf of the neighborhoods of Ward 4 and, in fact, the
entire city, I am vehemently opposed to the granting of these
permits . Other properties with similar characteristics exists
throughout the City of Salem, and I believe that a dangerous
precedent will be set that could cause a chain reaction that would
be detrimental to the character and stability of neighborhoods
throughout the City.
Please contact me prior to the issuing of any permits so that
we may discuss these immediately.
If there are any questions in connection with these permits,
please do not hesitate to call me at 744-0799 .
Waiting to hear from you.
Very truly yours,
