Notice of the hearing was sent to abutters and others and notices of the hearing were properly published in the Salem Evening News in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40A. At the request of the petitioner's Attorney George Vallis, the Salem Board of Appeal voted 5-0, to grant leave to withdraw this petition without prejudice for a Variance for relaxation from the parking ordinance for the number of parking spaces from 19 to 10 to allow a drive thru window for the property located at 4 Paradise Road. The following reasons are why the residents of 539 Loring Avenue oppose the building of a drive thru at Dunkin Donuts on Paradise Road. 1. Too much carbon monoxide in the area. ( cars will be running longer) 2. The strong smell of diesel fuel from trucks and some automobiles. 3. The loud noises from mufflers on vehicles. 4. Motorcycles are loud. ( people tend to rev the engines ) 5. Very loud playing of radios from the cars (especially from the modified speaker systems the teenagers have.) 6. The speaking of orders into the microphone box. ( both customer and employee ) 7. The vehicles will be closer to the house? ( haven't seen plans ) 8. Trash will be thrown over the fence. 9. Lighting will be different and could interfere with us. 10. Harder in the future to rent apartments for fair market value. The following reason why Dunkin Donuts building should remain the same. 1. The above reasons can not be controlled or corrected. We will be forced to live with the problem with no known resolution. 2. The only problems we have now are being addressed are the group of kids that hang around. Due to the understanding of the owners they have hired a security guard for the hours of 9:00pm — 1:30am, seven days a week. This has solved the noise and trash problem. 3. We do not see that they will be able to control the air quality or noise level coming from a loud muffler, rcving motorcycle, modified stereos in the kids cars or people placing orders in to a speaker box..
